On April 28th is National Day of Mourning to remember and honour those who have died, been injured, or suffered illness in the workplace. Canadian flags on Parliament Hill and at Queen's Park fly at half-mast on April 28th. The day is traditionally marked in many ways including holding public ceremonies, wearing black and yellow ribbons, lighting candles, observing a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. and sharing stories about how workplace tragedies have touched peoples' lives.

A Total Solar Eclipse will be taking place on Monday, April 8, 2024, visible across North America. The path of the eclipse will pass through multiple provinces, including Ontario. In the Middlesex-London region, a partial solar eclipse is expected to occur between 2:01 p.m. and 4:29 p.m. with the peak happening at 3:17 p.m., when most of the sun’s light will be covered by the Moon.
