Middlesex-London Paramedics Honoured with Prestigious Medals and Bars for Decades of Exemplary Service

MIDDLESEX COUNTY (October 2, 2023): Middlesex County is proud to announce the recognition of 10 outstanding Middlesex London Paramedic Service paramedics for their exceptional dedication and unwavering commitment to the residents of Middlesex-London. These individuals exemplify the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and expertise in community paramedicine.

Paramedic Mark Weiss has been issued an Exemplary Service Medal and First Bar in recognition of his over thirty years of ongoing service to the citizens of Ontario. Throughout his career, Paramedic Weiss has been involved in several committees relating to advancing the Paramedic profession and implementing new equipment. He has volunteered with various organizations locally and abroad and has mentored numerous paramedic students over his years of service.

Paramedic William Seeley - Awarded Medal (20yrs+) & First Bar (30yrs+) in 2023

Paramedic William Seeley has been issued an Exemplary Service Medal and First Bar in recognition of his over thirty years of ongoing service to the citizens of Ontario. Paramedic Seeley participated in one of the first Advanced Care Paramedic classes within the southwest region, participating in the OPALS Study. Paramedic Seely has mentored numerous Primary Care and Advanced Paramedics students during his career and has volunteered in his community as a coach and trainer for his local minor hockey team for over fifteen years.

Paramedic Robert McCoy - Awarded Medal (20yrs+) & First Bar (30yrs+) in 2023

Paramedic Robert McCoy has been issued an Exemplary Service Medal and First Bar in recognition of his over thirty years of ongoing service to the citizens of Ontario. Paramedic McCoy has worked diligently as a frontline paramedic for over 30 years, during which he has mentored numerous paramedic students and been a member of inter-organizational relations committees. Paramedic McCoy has volunteered to lecture high school students on the effects of alcohol and drug use with the Youth !mpact Program, assisting the Fanshawe College Paramedic Primary Care & Advanced Care programs and tending and maintaining the Port Franks community gardens.

Paramedic Rick West - Awarded Medal (20yrs+) & First Bar (30yrs+) in 2023

Paramedic Rick West has been issued an Exemplary Service Medal and First Bar in recognition of his over thirty years of ongoing service to the citizens of Ontario. Paramedic West has mentored paramedic students throughout his career and has been involved in public education initiatives regarding the paramedic profession. Paramedic West has mentored children with special needs for several years, providing outreach and support to children who face adversity with the Ontario Families Program.

Deputy Superintendent Tracey Gosling - Awarded Medal (20yrs+) in 2023

Deputy Superintendent Tracey Gosling has been issued an Exemplary Service Medal in recognition of her ongoing service to the citizens of Ontario. DS Gosling has been heavily involved in Paramedic education and has been a SWORBHP Base Hospital Prehospital Care Specialist Base Hospital Educator and Clinical Coordinator/Paramedic Professor with the Fanshawe College Paramedic program for decades; in these roles, she has profoundly impacted the careers of hundreds, if not thousands, of paramedics in the SW Region. DS Gosling also has volunteered as a manager/trainer for her local minor hockey and cheerleading teams for several years.

Paramedic Jeff Weir - Awarded Medal (20yrs+) in 2023

Paramedic Jeff Weir has been issued an Exemplary Service Medal in recognition of his ongoing service to the citizens of Ontario. Paramedic Weir is a long-serving member of Middlesex-London Paramedic Services's High-Risk Response and Community Paramedic Home Teams and additionally served on the Covid Response Team. Paramedic Weir is heavily involved in community sports and has volunteered in various capacities for local minor hockey, minor baseball, rugby and figure skating organizations for several years.

Paramedic Simon Martin - Awarded Medal (20yrs+) in 2023

Paramedic Simon Martin has been issued an Exemplary Service Medal in recognition of his ongoing service to the citizens of Ontario. Paramedic Martin serves as a member of the organization's JHSC, acts as the organization's Protocol Officer and is the Guard Commander of the Middlesex-London Paramedic Service Honour Guard. Paramedic Martin has contributed to several publications such as Canadian Emergency News, Canadian Firefighter & EMS Quarterly and Blue Line and volunteers with Scouts Canada's Med Vent program as a medical advisor.

Deputy Superintendent Steve Moerman - Awarded Medal (20yrs+) in 2023

Deputy Superintendent Steve Moerman has been issued an Exemplary Service Medal in recognition of his ongoing service to the citizens of Ontario. DS Moerman has mentored paramedic students throughout his career. DS Moerman is involved in his community church, where he serves on various committees and has travelled abroad with Medical Missions International to provide treatment and surgery to those lacking access to health & medical care. Additionally, DS Moerman has volunteered for several years as a coach and trainer for his local minor hockey league by coordinating and conducting goalie clinics for minor hockey players throughout the region.
