Middlesex County Connect Special Holiday Bus Service for Festive Shopping
Middlesex County, November 27, 2023 - As the holiday season approaches, Middlesex County Connect is pleased to announce its special holiday bus service on the Saturdays of December 9th and 16th, 2023. This initiative aims to facilitate the community's festive needs by providing convenient transportation options for holiday shoppers, contributing to an enriched overall holiday experience for residents.
Middlesex County Connect's buses on both Route 1 and Route 2 will operate with special hours for the holiday service, ensuring that the community has access to reliable and stress free public transportation for their holiday shopping endeavors. Anum Maqsood, the Community Transportation Project Manager for Middlesex County, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, emphasizing its potential to alleviate the hassles of driving and parking. According to Maqsood, "This initiative provides residents with the opportunity to leave the worries of driving and parking behind, offering an accessible and affordable alternative to reach their desired shopping destinations."
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this special holiday bus service, supporting a greener and more community-focused approach to holiday shopping. Cara Finn, the Director of Economic Development for Middlesex County, urges residents to "embrace the festive spirit, avoid the holiday traffic, and board Route 1 for Masonville Mall or Route 2 for access to both Masonville and Argyle Malls."
Acknowledging the significance of offering convenient and cost-effective transportation options, especially during the holiday season when shopping and festivities are at their peak, Cindy Howard, General Manager of Finance and Community Services at Middlesex County, stated, "We are committed to enhancing the community's holiday experience by offering a special holiday bus service. Our holiday service, coupled with the regular affordable one-way fare of $5, makes public transportation a convenient and budget-friendly choice for holiday shoppers." Additionally, residents can obtain free Middlesex County Connect bus passes at the library branches in Lucan, llderton, and Dorchester.

Middlesex County Connect
The Middlesex County Connect inter-community transit service has been made possible through funding provided by the Government of Ontario's Community Transportation Grant Program. Provincial funding for Middlesex County Connect will be available until March 31, 2025. Voyago is the service provider operating two (2) routes Monday to Friday.
Middlesex County Connect has been operating since September 2020 and launched its two new fixed routes on Monday, May 29, 2023, replacing the pre-existing routes:
Route 1: Lucan, llderton, Arva, London, and back.
Route 2: Woodstock, Ingersoll, Putnam, Dorchester, London, and back.
