Welcome to the Banks Forest Trail
Discover the Banks Forest Trail, a peaceful natural area in the heart of Middlesex County. As part of Ontario’s rare Carolinian Forest region, this trail highlights one of the few remaining examples of a unique and declining ecosystem in southern Ontario.
The trail passes through a range of habitats, including mixed hardwood forest, conifer plantations, cedar swamp, and open meadow–shrub thickets. These diverse landscapes support a variety of plants and wildlife, offering something to experience in every season. Since its acquisition in 1949, the forest has been actively restored with species such as red pine, larch, white pine, and spruce to support long‑term ecological health and biodiversity.
