Middlesex County Marks Major Construction Milestone for New Governance and Administration Building

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, February 3, 2025 - Last week, Middlesex County celebrated a major construction milestone with a “topping off” ceremony at the site of the new Middlesex County Governance and Administration Building, marking the completion of the facility’s structural steel framework.

The ceremony took place at the centre’s future location at 1045 Adelaide Street South in London, adjacent to the Middlesex-London Paramedic Service (MLPS) headquarters. Members of County Council, staff, and representatives from Baribeau Construction and Matter Architectural Studio Inc. gathered to celebrate the progress of the project that’s been nearly a decade in the making.

“This new centre is the result of nearly a decade of careful planning and strategic decision-making,” said Warden Sue Clarke. “This facility will support efficient and effective work, improve accessibility, and provide a space for community gatherings and civic functions. It will also celebrate our shared history, while positioning Middlesex County for the future.”

The new building supports the County’s long-term decentralization strategy, which over the past nine years has focused on reducing its corporate footprint, creating operational efficiencies, and investing in service delivery closer to residents.

Once complete, the new Governance and Administration Building will enhance operational efficiency through modern, flexible spaces that support collaboration and innovation. Designed in full compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the building will also improve accessibility for residents, staff, and visitors.
