OFA provides delegation on Agriculture in Middlesex County
The Committee of the Whole received a delegation from the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) with updates provided on agricultural issues in Middlesex County. OFA advocates for the protection of farmland, sustainable farming and issues directly affecting farm members in our communities. Key points included the need to expand interprovincial trade, reduce processing barriers, and promote local Ontario food through programs and media outreach. Homelessness Prevention Update - Connecting Journeys: Home within Community
The Committee of the Whole received update on Middlesex County’s ongoing homelessness prevention initiatives under the theme “Connecting Journeys: Home within Community.” Updates included the development of refreshed Human Services - Housing and Homelessness webpages, new promotional materials, and details on the County’s Extreme Weather Response, which incorporates a coordinated outreach effort providing temporary accommodations and wraparound supports for unsheltered individuals. The Committee also heard updates on key Human Services programs such as the Middlesex Accommodations Program (MAP), Food Insecurity Supports, Paramedic Outreach Program, and the Whatever It Takes Fund. Next Phase of Strathmere Lodge Strategic Alignment Review Underway
County Council, sitting as the Strathmere Lodge Committee of Management, received a report outlining the results of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for the Strathmere Lodge Long-Term Care Home Strategic Alignment Review and Master Plan. On September 9, 2025, Council directed staff to initiate a competitive process to secure a third-party provider to conduct a comprehensive review of Strathmere Lodge. The review will examine all aspects of the Lodge’s operations, from governance and administration to care delivery and compliance, and will inform a long-term master plan to guide future improvements. Following a competitive RFP process, Council awarded the contract to Centre for Organizational Effectiveness in the amount of $42,000. The project will be completed in three phases over the coming months, engaging staff, residents, and interest-holders to ensure the plan reflects the realities of day-to-day care. Council receives 2024 Year End Audit and Financial Statements
KPMG, the County's auditing firm, presented the results of the 2024 audit of Middlesex County’s finances. The audit included a comprehensive review of the consolidated financial statements for The Corporation of the County of Middlesex and its subsidiaries for the year ending December 31, 2024. Recommendations made by the Committee of the Whole at the November 4, 2025, meeting will be considered by County Council at its next regular meeting on November 25, 2025. The Legislative Services Department maintains the official record for all County government proceedings.
