Egremont Rolling Closure

On November 7, A large oversized load will be moving through Middlesex from Sarnia to London. To facilitate the move the OPP will be doing rolling closures on Egremont Drive leading and following the move as the load will take up most of the road. Hydro One will also be onsite to raise and disconnect any hydro crossings that could lead to disruption of power to residents in the area. Hydro One has already informed local residents who will be impacted by the outage. Sections of Egremont Drive will be closed for the majority of the day so avoid Egremont Drive if/when possible. If you need to use Egremont Drive please drive safely and follow instructions given by OPP officers.

See below for more information regarding the closure:

Outage Information:

On November 7, nearly 100 Hydro One employees will work as quickly and safely as possible to disconnect and reconnect power to customers in the vicinity of an 86 km route, starting from the Sarnia Harbour in support of a third-party moving a large vessel.

Hydro One worked with the third-party to determine the route in order to minimize the impact to its customers and grid. We understand how difficult it is to be without power and thank customers for their patience.

When: Tuesday, November 7 between 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Given the nature of the move, 14 individual outages are scheduled. Outage start and end times are estimates and vary based on the customers’ location and the speed of travel.

Where: Approximately 1,460 customers in the vicinity of the following roads may be affected by an outage as the vessel moves along the route:

  • Mandaumin Road (26) bound by Confederation Line (25) and London Line (22)
  • London Line (22) bound by Mandaumin Road (26) and Digby Street
  • Egremont Road (22) bound by Digby Street and Denfield Road

Why:  In order to ensure safe and reliable power to the communities we serve, Hydro supports the third-parties moving large vessels to ensure that they do not interfere or come into contact with our local grid. The cost associated with supporting large moves is paid for by the third-party.
