Middlesex-London Paramedics Honoured for 40 Years of Service

MIDDLESEX COUNTY (December 13, 2023): Middlesex County is proud to announce the recognition of Chief Neal Roberts and Paramedic Robert Gordon for receiving their Governor General Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal for 40 years of outstanding service. Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones presented the Second Bars to Chief Roberts and Gordon, who is a paramedic on the Neonatal Intensive Care Transport Team. The awards were formally presented at Queen Park, Toronto.

The late Governor General of Canada, Romeo LeBlanc, created the Medal in 1994 as part of the Canadian Honours System. This recognition recognizes paramedics who have provided the highest standard of care and conduct. To qualify, at least ten years of service must have been in the field, on duty, involving potential risk.

Each Bar to the Exemplary Service Medal represents an additional award of the Medal. Paramedics who have served for at least thirty years receive their First Bar, forty years their Second Bar, and for fifty years, their Third Bar.

Chief Neal Roberts - Awarded Second Bar (40yrs+) in 2023

Chief Neal Roberts has received a Second Bar for his Exemplary Service Medal, acknowledging his dedication to the Paramedic profession. Commemorating four decades of outstanding service to the citizens of Ontario, Chief Roberts is recognized for his unwavering commitment and leadership. His pivotal role in the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs, where he has served as Secretary, Vice President, and President, demonstrates his enduring influence. Chief Roberts' active participation in provincial committees and task forces has had a profound impact on the field of paramedicine in Ontario. Beyond his professional contributions, he remains deeply engaged in his community church, actively participating in various committees.

Paramedic Robert Gordon - Awarded Second Bar (40yrs+) in 2023

Paramedic Robert Gordon has received a Second Bar for his Exemplary Service Medal, celebrating four decades of continuous dedication to the well-being of Ontario's citizens. As the longest-serving frontline paramedic within Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, Paramedic Gordon is an integral part of the organization. As a founding member of the Neonatal Intensive Care Transport Team at Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, he has played a crucial role in safely transporting numerous critically ill pediatric patients to definitive care, showcasing his unwavering commitment in all conditions.
