Middlesex County Connect and Middlesex Library Launch New Library Bus Pass Loan Program

Middlesex County, October 13, 2023 - Middlesex County Connect and Middlesex County Library are excited to announce the launch of an innovative program aimed at enhancing community accessibility and connectivity. Starting on Monday, October 16th, library patrons can borrow Middlesex County Connect bus passes for free at the library branches in Lucan, Ilderton, and Dorchester.

Cindy Howard, General Manager of Finance and Community Services, expressed the importance of collaborating with Middlesex County Library as a significant step toward improving public transportation accessibility across the County. This partnership aims to eliminate transportation obstacles for residents while encouraging them to use the Middlesex County Connect intercommunity transit service. She further encouraged residents to take advantage of the opportunity to borrow a pass and personally experience the benefits of the service, exploring the convenience it offers for their daily commutes to work and school, attending appointments, or engaging in social visits.

The library bus passes are available in two categories: individual and family passes.

  • Family Pass: This pass is valid for two (2) adults and can include up to four (4) accompanying children under 18 years of age. It's perfect for family outings and adventures.
  • Individual Pass: This pass is valid for individuals aged 18 years or older and is ideal for solo travelers and commuters.

“The bus passes offer several key features to enhance the user experience,” said Anum Maqsood, the Community Transportation Project Manager. “First and foremost, patrons can access these passes for free, making them an affordable and convenient option for all. Additionally, each pass allows for a generous seven-day loan period, granting users ample time to explore and make the most of their trips using the service.” These passes are valid on all Middlesex County Connect bus routes, providing individuals and families the opportunity to explore a wide range of destinations throughout the County. The passes cannot be renewed, ensuring equitable access for all library patrons.

"We are excited to provide these library bus passes as an extension of our commitment to community development," said Cara Finn, Director of Economic Development. “This initiative aims to make transportation more accessible to our community, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly ways to explore Middlesex County. It also encourages residents to discover new destinations, connect with friends and family and explore our vibrant County and all it has to offer."

Get ready to embark on exciting journeys, visit local attractions, and make the most of your community with the Middlesex County Library bus passes. Mark your calendars for Monday, October 16th, when these passes will become available at the Lucan, Ilderton, and Dorchester libraries. Join us in exploring Middlesex County, one bus ride at a time!
