To mark the 225th anniversary of Middlesex County, residents are invited to take part in a special tree giveaway event. In partnership with Greenhouse Academy, the County will have 225 spruce saplings available for pickup as a symbol of the growth and deep roots that have grounded Middlesex County for 225 years.
Details
The giveaway will take place on Friday, June 27, at two locations:
- Ailsa Craig Library (open 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
- Parkhill Library (open 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
The trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
This giveaway offers a unique opportunity for residents to take home a living piece of the County's legacy, one that can grow and thrive for years to come. Whether planted in a backyard, along a fencerow, or in a shared green space, each sapling helps contribute to a greener future.
About Greenhouse Academy
The County extends its thanks to Greenhouse Academy in Thorndale for their generous donation of the spruce saplings in support of this incredible milestone celebration.
Greenhouse Academy is a registered not-for-profit social enterprise that combines environmental stewardship with practical workforce training. Operating as a youth-run tree nursery, the Academy offers hands-on programs that build both business and emotional skills while preparing participants for future success. Trees are sponsored by partners and grown by students, with 100% of the seedlings donated to community beautification, conservation, and naturalization projects. Each sponsored tree supports youth training, job creation, and climate action, creating long-term benefits for individuals and the environment alike.
