Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to reflect on Canada’s history and the painful legacy of residential schools. We honour the children who never came home, the survivors, and their families.

Here in Middlesex County, we acknowledge the injustices Indigenous peoples have faced and continue to face. We commit to listening, learning, and working toward reconciliation with respect and humility.

The County is pleased to be supporting the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Tipi Gathering at the Celebration Event Facility and Museum at 84 Chippewa Road.

I encourage everyone to take part in today’s events, gatherings, and learning opportunities. Wear orange, listen to Indigenous voices, and take time to reflect on what reconciliation means in your life.

Reconciliation is not just a single day. It is a shared responsibility and a journey we take together. The County of Middlesex is committed to walking that path with our communities, guided by truth, respect, and a hope for a better future.
