Middlesex County Council Meeting Highlights – April 9, 2024

Warden Aina DeViet shares activity for first quarter of term 

County Council received an update from Warden Aina DeViet on her activity in the role of Warden since her election in December 2023. The Warden's Activity Report highlights the Warden's government and community relations activities, achievements, projects and engagements on behalf of Middlesex County. During this reporting period, the Warden’s activities consisted of a mix of political, community, and internal organizational engagements. At the ROMA Conference in January, advocacy efforts included various ministries and officials, emphasizing important community issues such as infrastructure, EarlyON and childcare, community transportation, housing and homelessness, land ambulance dispatch, and community paramedicine. County Road Closures for Summer of 2024

The Committee of the Whole received an informational report on County Road closures for various construction projects scheduled this year. To facilitate bridge repairs and road construction, several County roads will be closed resulting in detour routes. Renewal of Information Technology Services Agreements

County Council approved the renewal of Information Technology Services (ITS) agreements with the Municipality of Thames Centre and the Municipality of Middlesex Centre. These agreements signify a collaborative effort to provide high-quality IT support to various entities within Middlesex County, including Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, Middlesex County Library, Strathmere Lodge, and six local lower-tier municipalities within the County. In line with Council’s strategic goal of fostering a culture of collaboration, the renewal of the ITS Agreements has involved actively engaging with local municipalities to achieve shared objectives. The agreements also reflect a broader trend towards modernization and innovation in municipal operations. As technology continues to evolve, Middlesex County is committed to embracing these changes to better serve residents. Through these ITS agreements and collaborative initiatives, Middlesex County underscores its dedication to efficient, effective, and resident-centric governance in the digital age.

Recommendations made by the Committee of the Whole at the April 9, 2024 meeting will be considered by County Council at its next regular meeting on May 14, 2024. The Legislative Services Department maintains the official record for all County government proceedings.
