Middlesex County provides a variety of services to its residents including transportation, long term care, library and information services, planning and economic development, social services as well as administrative services. In total we have approximately 370 employees, many of whom are represented by unions which include CAW, CUPE and ONA.
Because of this diversity, the County employees people with a wide range of skills.
Transportation has careers in truck driving, equipment operations as well as engineering services for road design and construction.
Our Home for the Aged, Strathmere Lodge, hires employees in housekeeping, maintenance, cooking and kitchen services and of course personal support workers and registered nurses.
Careers in library and information services include library assistants in the branches, library technicians and several librarians.
We employ planning and GIS technicians and certified planners in the planning department.
Social services have careers available as social service workers and their program support.
All of these services require administrative support. To that end the county has clerical positions, treasury positions, computer and information technology positions and human resources.
Careers at Middlesex County are widely varied reflecting the broad spectrum of services we provide.
