Vance Blackmore – Mayor


Vance Blackmore was born in London, Ont and lived his first 20 years in Appin, he bought some acreage in Mosa township and married Kathy Trethewey, they have lived there ever since. They have two daughters, Erin and Amberly. He attended SS#13 Ekfrid; a two room school from grade 1 to 8, attended Glencoe District High School for the next 4 years. Vance attended Fanshawe college for hairdressing. He has provided hairdressing services at nursing homes in Komoka, Wardsville, and Chatham for the past 40 years. He believes his clients are the most important people in the world.

Community Service

Blackmore was first elected as Mosa township councillor in 1991, then elected as Reeve of Mosa in 1994. He served 2 terms as Reeve and Middlesex County councillor. In 2000 he was elected as Deputy Mayor of Southwest Middlesex and has been re-elected three times since. Vance served as Warden of Middlesex County in 2003.

He serves as a member of Middlesex London Public Health Unit. Is past chairman of the board of health section of the Association of local Public Health agencies. Served as President of alPHa in 2007. He has chaired the SWM Canada Day celebration for the past 7 years. Vance also helps promote a variety of horse clubs in Ontario.

Hobbies and Interests

Vance's first love is his wife and two daughters and their farm. He has enjoyed showing horses across Ontario and Michigan, as his daughters grew old enough to sit on a horse they started showing them at Ontario shows. Blackmore is now quite happy riding his horse on trail rides in Ontario, Michigan and Kentucky. His daughters are still very involved in riding with Amber showing reining horses in Alberta and Erin riding and driving horses in Ontario, Mackinaw Island, and Australia.
